Bruce W King

Chief Financial Officer & Project Manager & Gardener

Bruce W. King holds a BS from Arizona State University and worked for 15 years as a High-Tech Manufacturing Engineer. He received a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Utah and holds AMS Montessori credentials at the lower and upper elementary levels. Bruce joined Soaring Wings in 1993, opening our first elementary classes. With his background in engineering and Boy Scouts, he brought STEM into the curriculum before there was such a term, along with weekly outdoor experiences. Bruce’s classes built trails in the state parks, installed bluebird nest boxes, helped establish the TMMS Wetland Preserve, took field trips to many manufacturing plants within school bus distance, and initiated the fall & spring family campouts that are now favorite Upper School events. Bruce’s graduates went on to become scientists, artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs. Before joining SWIMS, one student was told he would never learn to read. He became a professor of linguistics.

Bruce enjoys managing new projects at the school, keeping it ever evolving. He raised two successful Montessori children and now delights in his 6 Montessori grandchildren.
