Soaring Wings breaks ground on third campus!
Park City Montessorians, Duna Strachan, her daughter, Lina Singleton, and grand-daughter, Finley Singleton, are shown breaking ground on the third campus of Soaring Wings International Montessori School. The new 10,000 sq ft school will be located on the northeast corner of Hwy 224 & Old Ranch Road and will open August 2013.
Montessori schools are individually owned and operated and based upon a theory of education developed by Dr. Maria Montessori who opened her first classroom in 1907 in Italy. Montessori schools are now located around the world and follow Dr. Montessori’s original child-centered principles of allowing the child to progress at her own pace and to learn abstract concepts by beginning with concrete materials.
Soaring Wings International Montessori School is a private school for children from birth through 15 years of age (infant – 9th grade) and has been educating students in Park City, Utah since 1987.
Soaring Wings International Montessori School to open
Parent/Infant class for the 2011/2012 school year!
Parents and their infants will meet with a certified Infant/Toddler teacher for this weekly class at our Jeremy Ranch campus. The environment is carefully prepared to support infant and parent needs. The teacher introduces a lesson for each class focusing on infant development and the Montessori method. The atmosphere is warm and nurturing and allows for exploration of individual needs including how best to support the child in the home environment. This program serves as an introduction to Montessori philosophy for the parents and the child.

Soaring Wings Strikes Silver!
Soaring Wings International Montessori School is celebrating its silver anniversary this year. The school opened its doors in August of 1987 in the Park Meadows home of owners Duna Strachan and Bruce King. Five years later the growing waiting list encouraged an expansion into the newly renovated Park City Library and Education Center. The school opened in the new location during a fierce January blizzard in 1993 despite the fact that there was plywood where the front steps would be and the rest of the building was far from habitable. Within a few months the Park City Library moved in followed by Utah Valley State College and the University of Utah then the building held it’s Grand Opening as the beautiful “palace of education” that it is today.
In 2008 Soaring Wings’ Jeremy Ranch Campus opened at the Summit Center on Rasmussen Road. Plans are currently underway to break ground this spring on a third campus on the Northeast corner of Old Ranch Road & Hwy 224, which will open August 2013. Along the way the school has grown to 150 students for infants thru 5th grade and has seen graduates go on to become accomplished scholars, artists, athletes, scientists and entrepreneurs.
